Inspiring lives in Skyline Plaza, Basingstoke
Alan Walker and his girlfriend Kerry Cavanagh bought a new apartment in Skyline Plaza in the centre of Basingstoke. Alan and Kerry had been living separately, but Shared Ownership offered them an ideal opportunity to buy a home and live together.
“The rooms are huge and once we got all our belongings into it, it seemed even bigger!”
How did they hear about Skyline Plaza?
Kerry heard about it via the Homes in Hants website. The site showcased a number of homes including Skyline, and proved to be the starting point to owning a new home. She noted, “We had a look at the show home, which was the mirror image of our apartment, a floor below. We really liked the layout. So when we were choosing, we chose the one above it.”
What was their first impression?
“We loved it! It was the only place we saw. We didn’t look at anything else and we picked it straight away. The communal areas are very luxurious. Everyone always likes it whenever they visit for the first time. They always think it’s really smart, especially the lobby area with the metal art.” Alan commented on the size of the rooms and the open layout. “The rooms are huge and once we got all our belongings into it, it seemed even bigger! As an added bonus, I can even watch football and cook at the same time.”
How do they like the local area?
The couple really love the location and noted,“It’s right opposite the railway station, in the centre of town with restaurants and cinemas. You can get to London easily or get to the coast. If you don’t want to drive you can just go on the train.”
Would they recommend shared ownership?
“We would definitely recommend shared ownership. It’s a lot more affordable than having to raise a large deposit and then pay high mortgage payments each month.” “It was a really easy process. We worked with one person who was very helpful throughout the whole process. Each stage was explained, what we needed to do and how long that would take.”
“We feel proud to have our own place. You get to stamp your own mark on it, a lot more than if you were just renting.”
