Homemade Christmas gift ideas

 Posted Wednesday, 04 December 2019

We’re loving the idea of getting involved with homemade Christmas this year! It’s a fab way to give extra-thoughtful, memorable gifts to your loved ones, whilst also being savvy, sticking to a budget and helping save the deposit for your new shared ownership home.

Here are a few of our favourite gift ideas to make at home with mulled wine in hand and a Christmas playlist on...

Treat your elves...

If you’re not quite going to be the next Mary Berry making mountains of sweet, chocolatey baked goods this Christmas, there are still plenty of simpler ways to treat those with a sweet tooth. Add a seashell silicone mold to your bakery supply and package up mouth-watering Belgian chocolate seashells, fill a mason jar with cookie or brownie mix (don’t forget to add a tag with instructions!), or make hot chocolate reindeer cones for the kids to enjoy whilst watching Polar Express.

Deck the halls with…

A personalised calendar can be admired all year round – include a photo for each month from the previous year or let your inner artist out and paint monthly themed pictures (if wall worthy enough, these could then be put into frames once the year is up!).

Get in the Christmas spirit…

On the slightly more expensive side, but a very well received gift is infused vodka and gin – you can use raspberries, blackberries, sloe berries, you name it! Coasters are also perfect to give alongside to save from any marks on the dining room table!

Show us your baubles…

Why not have a go at making your very own baubles? You can use many different materials including clay, yarn, wood slices, salt dough, pom-poms, felt and craft paper. To give the baubles an extra personal touch, you can also add names, initials or use photos.

Put a personal stamp on the festive season...

To package up all the goodies, use a roll of recyclable brown wrapping paper decorated with Christmas themed stamps and tie with ribbon.

If you don’t have a creative flare but still want to stick with the homemade theme, shop local at handmade stores or treat a loved one to a unique gift experience, such as a cooking class or jewellery making.

We’d love to know if you’re putting your Christmas elf hat on and getting involved with homemade Christmas! Head over to our Instagram to get involved with the festivities and tag us in your best ideas.
