Rural Housing Week

With Rural Housing Week well underway, we caught up with Joy, our Sales Consultant for the South. Joy lives in Blandford, Dorset and is responsible for helping customers into rural shared ownership homes across Hampshire & Dorset. Having lived rurally most of her life, she tell us why she loves it and why affordable housing in the countryside is so important.

“If you’ve been brought up in the countryside you tend to stay there, it’s not just the pretty surroundings that you grow accustom to; it’s the pace of life, sense of community and the peace & quiet!

Being close to family and near where they grew up is so important to some of our customers and without shared ownership, many would not have had the opportunity to continue living where they love. You’ll find that many generations have attended the same village school, have brought their milk at the local shop, and have drunk in the same local pub! It’s fantastic to be instrumental in keeping these special traditions alive.

With the vast rolling countryside brings larger gardens, and an abundance of surrounding green spaces for you to enjoy, and even offers natures extended garden on your doorstep! With plenty of public footpaths, bridleways and woodland to explore, it’s a lifestyle that you just don’t get in more suburban areas. I certainly wouldn’t want to live anywhere else, so I can understand why our customers don’t either.

With further phases due at Kilnhurst Gardens in Verwood, and new homes coming soon to Chestnut Close in Marnull and The Orchards in Whaddon, there's exciting times ahead for rural housing!"
