New handpicked independent solicitors panel

Our brand new handpicked independent solicitors panel has just launched!

We caught up with Bella, Senior Sales Completion Coordinator at Sovereign on the importance of using a solicitor experienced in dealing with new build, shared ownership purchases.

Bella looks after a team of Sales Progressors who work across our regional areas, from Oxford to the Isle of Wight and Reading to Devon, all progressing our customers house purchases from reservation through to completion.

How were the members of the solicitors panel chosen?

Our new independent solicitor panel were handpicked based on their comprehensive knowledge of new build, shared ownership transactions, their excellent customer service, and their use of progressive technology to aid in a quick and smooth-running sale for all parties.

What does my solicitor do for me?

Your solicitor will undertake all the legal work of the property purchase for you. They will apply for ‘searches’ on your home and raise any ‘enquiries’ they or you may have to Sovereign’s solicitor.

What should I look for in a solicitor?

Shared ownership and new build purchases are considered to be a specialised area of law. To ensure your sale goes through smoothly, it is very important to have a solicitor who is well versed in shared ownership as it is slightly different to buying a home on the open market. Appointing a solicitor that is experienced in these areas will really help to keep things moving along and to achieve your exchange date with us so we can hand over the keys to your new home as soon as possible!

What are the benefits of using a solicitor from the handpicked panel?

Once you’ve successfully been allocated your new home, your Sales Consultant will be able to tell you if any of our panel solicitors have been used at the development before. This aids in the speed of your purchase, as once the enquiries have been raised and answered for the development, they shouldn’t need to raise any more – unless of course you have any specific questions you want answering. As well as this, we have great working relationships with our panel solicitors, which is another benefit to our customers as you can be safe in the knowledge we’re working closely together to get you into your new home as quickly as possible.
