How to apply for a new build home

Ready to apply for your new build Shared Ownership home?

Simply follow these two easy steps...

01. Start your application

To start your application, please find the property you are interested in and click 'Apply now'.

Please be advised to be eligible for Shared Ownership;

  1. You need to have a gross household income of less than £80,000 per annum
  2. You must not own another property (although you can apply if sold subject to contract)
  3. You must be 18 years old or older.

** Please be aware that a local connection may be required. For example, you may need to live or work within the area. For properties with this connection requirement, you will be asked to provide evidence of how you meet the criteria.

If the property you're interest in doesn't have an 'Apply now' button, we may not be ready to release it for sale just yet - make sure you've registered you interest to be notified when applications open!

02. Check the finances

Speak to one of our expert panel of Mortgage Advisors to arrange a financial assessment.

You will be asked to complete a 10 minute, over the phone assessment and provide information to confirm that you are eligible for Shared Ownership, and that your chosen property is affordable for you.

Once completed this is passed to our Sales Consultants. They will be in touch to confirm if we can offer you a property and what the next steps will be.

The application process can take up to 4 weeks, we will contact you as soon as it is completed.

** Details of the panel member for the property you are applying for may available on the development or property pages. Alternatively, you can find one here.

Get Prepared

If you’re successful and offered one of our homes there are some final steps to fully reserve your new property.

You will be asked to provide proof of funding and to complete some ID checks (Via our third party ID supplier, Thirdfort) - a full list of acceptable forms of ID and proof of address can be found here

You will also be asked to verbally instruct a solicitor - we always advise customers to choose a solicitor familiar with Shared Ownership. Sovereign also have a handpicked list of independent Shared Ownership solicitors which can be found here.
